SQL *Plus Installation

SQL *Plus is a component of Oracle Database.  When you install the Oracle Database, SQL *Plus and, its command-line user interface, Windows GUI, and SQL* Plus web-based user interface are installed automatically.

There are different aspects to Oracle Database and SQL *Plus depending on what operating system and computer it is used on.  The Oracle Database Installation Guide discusses these topics on the different operating systems that SQL *Plus supports. You should keep your Oracle Database Installation Guide for future reference.

SQL *Plus Date Format:

SQL *Plus determines the default date by the database NLS_DATE_FORMAT parameter and may use two digit years for the date format.  To control the way dates are displayed in your report, you can use the SQL TO_CHAR function, or the SQL *Plus COLUMN FORMAT command in you SELECT statements.
