Interference: How Google Chromecast Broadcasts

This article has not been updated recently and may contain dated material.

How Google Chromecast Broadcasts

The Chromecast only broadcasts its SSID for setup. This essentially creates an adhoc network. If the device fails to connect to a wireless network it will automatically go back into its 'set me up' state and you will see that SSID available. A blinking white light means that the device is not connected to a wireless network. If it is a solid white light, it means that the device is connected to a wireless network and ready to accept 'casts'.

Please note: Chromecast does not work with eduroam.
